I’m in Turkey now. What should I do?
The Foreign Office has advised anyone who is out there in Turkey at the moment to:
- stay indoors wherever possible
- stay out of public places
- stay safe
If you are due to fly back home, please keep an eye on information from the tour operator and airline on their websites and social media. UPDATE: British Airways have cancelled all flights in and out of Turkey today (16th July 2016). In a statement they have said;
In the light of events in Turkey we have cancelled all flights to and from Turkey on Saturday 16 July 2016, and BA675 departing from Istanbul on Sunday 17 July.
We are keeping flights to Turkey under review.
The safety and security of our customers and crew are always our top priority and we would never operate a flight unless it was safe to do so.
Please check the BA website and their social media for up to date information. British nationals requiring urgent consular assistance in Turkey can contact the Foreign Office on 0207 008 0000.
I am due to travel to Turkey soon. What should I do?
All Holiday Hamster customers have been contacted by our office and are now fully appraised of the situation. Where necessary, options were given to cancel or amend travel plans.
If you have booked with someone else and have not yet begun your journey to Turkey, please check with your tour operator website. They should have information on how they are responding to the situation, including telephone numbers to call if necessary. There should also be information about what to do if your flight is one of those which has been cancelled.
In addition, it is advisable to regularly check the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website for up to date information.
