Stretching over 16 000 km they are the largest salt pans in the world. One of Africa’s biggest zebra populations as well as in the wet season home to flocks of flamingoes, springbok and wildebeest, making for fantastic game viewing. Some of the must see attractions are:
The flamingo breeding season in the Sowa pan
Riding a quad bike across the desolate pans
The incredible star lit sky on a night while experiencing nothing but total isolation, peace and quiet and being at one with your loved ones and nature.
The central pans consist of three camp sites on palm islands all offering similar activities as the Mkgadikgadi National Park in their own different style. The Boteti river area forms the western boundary. From July to November it becomes a string of pools that attract zebra, wildebeest, elephants, giraffe, white rhino (can be a rare occurrence if you do see one) and predators.
Nxai pan along with the wildlife Kudiakan pan and the famous Baines Baobabs are a must see.
